Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. James 4:8

Shanah Tovah! (A Good Year!) The Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah, began last night at sundown kicking off the ten days of awe. They will culminate on the holiest day of the Jewish calendar, Yom Kippur, also know as the Day of Atonement, on September 23rd. Awe can be described as a feeling of reverential respect mixed with fear or wonder inspired by something majestic or powerful. God is inviting us to return to Him from our busy lives and awaken to the awe of His presence. Awakening to God is the way of transformation in not only ourselves, but also this tumultuous world. The Season of Our Joy, Sukkot, in which restored fellowship with God is celebrated, follows during the week of September 28 through October 4. Sukkot is also called the Feast of Booths or Tabernacles. God’s presence, provision and protection are celebrated at this time. It commemorates the forty years that the Jewish people sojourned in the wilderness with God after their exodus from Egypt. It also looks forward to the coming Millennial Kingdom when the Messiah (Jesus) will return and rule. “And the Word became flesh and dwelt (tabernacled) among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” (John 1:14) Let us respond to God’s invitation during these Days of Awe to draw near to Him and enter into The Season of Our Joy! In His presence is fullness of joy and the promise of provision and protection. (Psalm16:11, 23:1, 91:1) Keep on abiding, Steve
