Wake Up Call

“Seek the Lord while He may be found;

Call upon Him while He is near.”

Isaiah 55:6

Can you relate to this? “It comes the very moment you wake up each morning. All your wishes and hopes for the day rush at you like wild animals.” In reflecting on the start of each day, C.S. Lewis had this wise counsel, “And the first job each morning consists simply in shoving them all back; in listening to that other voice, taking that other point of view, letting that other larger, stronger, quieter life come flowing in. And so on, all day. Standing back from all your natural fussings and frettings; coming in out of the wind.” I am learning to do this. It makes all the difference in my day!

Are you waking up to God? Many men are waking up to His presence in their lives. They are being delivered from anxiety, distractions, obstacles and sin. They are learning to fight the good fight as Paul encouraged Timothy to, “Fight the good fight of faith; take hold of the eternal life to which you were called…” (1 Timothy 6:12)

So, how did you wake up this morning? Did you hit the ground running or acknowledge God first? God is calling us to rise and shine each morning for His glory! “Arise, shine; for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.” (Isaiah 60:1) This is no time to hit the snooze button! “Today if you hear His voice, do not harden your heart.” (Hebrews 4:7)

The world is full of conflict and chaos, but that is really nothing new. Jesus told His disciples two thousand years ago, “These things I have spoken to you, so that In Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33) In Jesus, we have peace and are overcomers. Otherwise, we are victims of our circumstances. Are you living as a victim or victor? God is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to His power within us as we wake up and live by faith in Him. (Ephesians 3:20)

Arise and shine,

Steve
